Lead Story

Vodafone M2M SIMs and network connectivity established built-in, direct, wireless contact between Keenan's control centre team and the on-board computers built into its livestock feed machinery.

Business need

To enable a comprehensive support service for their farming customers, Keenan needed its livestock feed control centre to be in permanent contact with its machinery on farms. This would enable the precise feed specification to be achieved each and every time.

Vodafone M2M is great for our customers. They don't need to make a big investment in additional technology and for farmers who are not particularly IT minded, Vodafone M2M makes it so much easier for them to see great results. Michael Keogh, Group Marketing Manager, Keenan

The solution

Vodafone M2M SIMs and network connectivity established built-in, direct, wireless contact between Keenan's control centre team and the on-board computers built into its livestock feed machinery. This eliminated the need for intervention by farmers and improved the consistency and quality of the feed mix.

Key customer benefits

  • Increased milk production of 1.75kg per cow per day is achieved through a more consistent ration being fed to the animals as a result of farmers having real-time information sent via Vodafone M2M SIMs and network.
  • Certainty that the correct feed ingredients have been received, bypassing potential language or local issues.
  • Increased demand for Keenan's machinery and support services as more farmers discover the positive impacts on milk, beef production and animal health.
