Cookies

What is a cookie?

Cookies are text files that are installed on your browser when the web page that you select requests content from a web server. This text file acts as a unique identifier so that your browser can be identified again by that web server.

Most browser technology (such as Internet Explorer, Netscape etc) allows you to choose whether to accept cookies or not you can either refuse all cookies or you can set your browser to alert you each time that a website tries to set a cookie.

If you would like to know more about cookies and how they work, please visit www.allaboutcookies.org.

Why we use cookies:
  1. To facilitate your use of our website during your visit:
Temporary or session cookies are only stored on your browser for the duration of your visit. For example these follow and track your movements between screens to provide an improved browsing experience.

  2. To understand how visitors interact with our website and web pages:
We use a number of third parties to provide tools that enable us to understand how you interact with our site and/or related products and services, to:
    1. understand what you like and use or don't like and don't use
    2. provide a more enjoyable, customised service and experience, and
    3. help us develop and deliver better content, products and services tailored to our customers' interests and needs.
Those third parties use a persistent cookie to carry out that analysis on our behalf. If you wish to prevent this from happening, you need to visit the following link to opt out:

Omniture opt-out. - this will have the effect of setting an opt out cookie on your browser. Please note that if you clear your cookie file or change your browser, you will need to return to this site in order to opt out again.

  3. To tailor how we communicate with you or tailor the content of the communications that we send to you - with your permission of course:
We also use the services of www.eloqua.com to serve a persistent cookie on your browser when you first visit our web pages unless there is already an Eloqua cookie on your browser because you have visited a non-Vodafone site which is also using their services.

However, your browsing activity on our web pages will not be combined with your browsing behaviour on other websites using their services.

We use your browsing activity on our web pages to understand which pages and content our visitors use or do not use so that we can keep our content and pages under constant review to ensure that we are delivering what our visitors seem to want.

Although this persistent cookie does not contain any personal information about you specifically, if you do choose to register for a service, white paper or newsletter, then we will link your personal information to the browsing information associated with the Eloqua cookie on your browser. Please read the section below to understand why we would like to do this. If you do not want that to happen you can opt-out.

This will only opt you out of our use of the Eloqua cookie. If you want to opt out of the Eloqua cookie on all websites on the worldwide web that use their services, you will need to visit www.eloqua.com

Please note that if you change your browser, use another computer to visit our web pages, or remove cookies from your browser, then you will need to use the opt out mechanism again.
